Joy Bauer is the author of seven books on food and nutrition, including two New York Times bestsellers. She is the resident nutrition expert for the Today show and Yahoo.com, and a contributing editor to Parade and Woman's Day magazines. I watched a PBS show where Joy Bauer used her book. I wanted a copy for my Kindle app that Amazon so generously provides for free to download to my computer. Joy gives a lot of information as a Nutritionist that helps people create a healthier lifestyle. It is important for all of us to eat as healthy meals as we can at home. I do a lot of research myself to be able to do this for myself. I have always been a good cook, but now I eat all my meals at home. It is amazing what a single person alone in life can do just to help themselves be healthier by watching what you eat and drink. It makes all the difference in the world to eat healthy as you can afford. I am grateful for this book to have to make notes on what foods I need to purchase to be as healthy as possible. Her book helps people be able to create healthy grocery lists so ideal weight can be maintained for a lifetime of yo-yo dieting. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to start today to be as healthy as you can be for the rest of your lifetime. True education is self-education. When books like this are read, it causes a person to want to eat as healthy as they possibly can because it increases your knowledge about foods we need to eat.

This book has a large list of disorders along with jump-starting menus and recipes to help the reader cope. This book became ever so much more valuable when I found out that Medicare does not consider Nutritionists or dieticians as being necessary to a person's well-being. One of the very best books on nutrition and its relationship to health wellness I have ever found.

My friend in prison has at least 7 bulging disks in his spine, plus more in the other section that hasn't been MRId yet. He has arthritis all over and lives in pain. The Dept of Corr has decided to take away meds so he must live with the pain until he gets out. I saw this book and thought since his new celly was a chef, I would send this book to him! He can buy a lot of ingredients from the commissary with the money I send him, and substitute some unavailable ones for other available ones. He said he first read the section on arthritis, and has now given it to the chef to see what he thinks about substitutions to keep it healthy for him. He will tell me when they cook their first dish from it! He told me the other day he is only eating one meal a day at chow hall, and that's breakfast. I pray that this book will be his salvation from so much pain. The book arrived pretty quickly and he said it was in perfect shape. I appreciate the great shipping with everything I buy from Amazon.com.

Very good for beginners. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. The book was well organized and the pictures/illustrations were clear and convincing.

Having multiple health issues is hard enough but finding the right diet can be even harder!! Joy Bauer's book has been a road map for me to follow to know what to buy at the grocery store, good recipes and most of all, I am feeling better!! Thank you Joy!
