I love Joseph Campbell's works. Although this is very scholarly written, and at times difficult to read, It's worth culling out the key important points of Myth, Metaphor and Religion. Earth's new view of Religion and Myth should be any photo of our known Universe as viewed through the telescopic view of the HUBBLE TELESCOPES and later advanced telescopes. The Bible and the Koran and other religious texts written with a world view 2000 or more years ago just doesn't fit the Mythology of today.

This book gives many examples of the relativity apparent in religious symbols during the worlds time line. It is a book to study not a quick read. The center of mystical relativity is focused more on yoga Chakra, then Buddhism outward until beliefs that barley touch modern logical scientific thinking. Yoga meaning: oneness with one's inner-self," matches the the book's title. This book answers a question I have heard muttered many times, "Why is America having so many social behavioral problems?" "Why is the world in chaos?" The book explores the quantum leap advancement of mankind in relationship to the archaic belief systems; dissolving the very foundations of the collective unconscious mind.

It would be awesome to see more festivals represented (e.g., Christmas in India, Sankranti, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.). Also, what would really be cool is if Neel and Maya visited each state in India and learned about their food, culture, clothing, language, important sights to see, etc. India is such a beautifully diverse country, and it would be great to showcase the diversity of each state in this book series so that Indian American kids can be proud of their heritage!

About the Author

Kitty O. Locker was an Associate Professor of English at The Ohio State University, where she taught courses in workplace discourse and research methods. She received her B.A. from DePauw University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana. She also wrote  Business and Administrative Communication (6th ed., Irwin/McGraw-Hill, 2003),  The Irwin Business Communication Handbook: Writing and Speaking in Business Classes (1993), and co-edited Conducting Research in Business Communication (1988). Her consulting clients included URS Greiner, Abbott Laboratories, the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association, AT&T, and the American Medical Association. In 1994–95, she served as President of the Association for Business Communication (ABC). From 1997 to 2000, she edited ABC’s  Journal of Business Communication. She received ABC’s Outstanding Researcher Award in 1992 and ABC’s Meada Gibbs Outstanding Teacher Award in 1998.

The content is great but the quality of the book I received was sub-par. Some of the pages were folded over, the spine of the book was badly damaged, but technically none of this actually mattered since the book was only a rental. Definitely recommend renting this book to anyone looking to save money.

used this for an online business comm class; tbh I didn't read much of it, but it has so many visual examples I passed my class with an A just by looking at the examples! :)From what I did read, it does have good advice and little boxes with "tips", so that was very helpful also.

Amazon rental service was great. I found the book to be dreadfully dull, fairly well organized, but some of the assignments were either vague on one end the scale or stiflingly specific on the other. Overall, I imagine what you'd expect for a business communication course.

I just rented this text for a Professional Communications class. I am only at the 7th Module and am considering paying the difference so that I may keep it as a reference. I am honestly learning invaluable skills that will help me communicate efficiently and effectively the rest of my life, both inside and outside business settings.

Book cover is already all bent and torn. Better not be held liable for the damage it arrived with... because what’s a book without the cover?

This book manages to do a lot of talking about very (VERY) simple things.The actual full body examples of different types of memos, letters, resumes and cover letters are helpful though.Because of this, if you need it for a class, I recommend simply borrowing a copy from someone else or renting it on [...]--avoid buying.

I used this book for school. Therefore, I would have to say it was a necessity. It is a book that will teach you a lot if actually read it for learning.

About the Author

Assistant Professor of Humanities at Brigham Young University, Allen J. Christenson specializes in the art and literature of the ancient as well as contemporary Maya people of Mexico and Central America. He has conducted research in the Maya region as a linguist, cultural anthropologist, and art historian since 1978. Additionally, he has worked as a translator in both the K'iche' and Tz'utujil languages. In preparation for this new translation of the Popol Vuh, Dr. Christenson has worked closely with K'iche'-Maya speakers in Guatemala with regard to native calendrics, traditional worship practices, and ritual poetry. He holds masters and doctoral degrees in Precolumbian art history from the University of Texas, Austin. He and his wife, Janet, are the proud parents of three children and reside in Provo, Utah.

I had Dr. Christenson as a professor and his work is excellent. He has spent years living with the maya and becoming intimately acquainted with their culture; they even allow him to participate in some of their rituals. I believe the advantage of his work is not so much his language understanding (though it is far from lacking), but his comprehension of the culture. When he translates, he knows what the phrase or idea meant to the ancient maya, and translates accordingly. He also includes extensive and interesting footnotes about maya beliefs. For understanding the people behind the work, Dr. Christenson is one of your best sources.

A must have for everyone who study mayan culture and history.
