About the Author

Multatuli (the pen name of Eduard Douwes Dekker; 1820–1887) was born in Amsterdam and served as a colonial official in the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia) for almost twenty years. His protests against abuses in the Dutch colonial system led to tension with his superiors and eventually to his resignation in 1856. He hoped that the novel Max Havelaar (1860), by bringing the problems to public attention, would lead to meaningful reform and his reinstatement as a senior official. The book was a great success and provoked public and political debate, eventually leading to changes in colonial policy, and Multatuli became a celebrated author. Yet he argued that these changes did not truly address the issues he had exposed, and was disappointed that Max Havelaar had not propelled him into an illustrious career in public administration or politics. He eventually concluded that Dutch colonialism was doomed to fail. Multatuli’s social criticism continued in his later work, such as the popular play School for Princes (1872) and the semiautobiographical novel Woutertje Pieterse (1890), about a young boy in late eighteenth century Amsterdam. Today he is regarded as Holland’s greatest writer of the nineteenth century and the father of contemporary Dutch literature. His many admirers have included D.H. Lawrence and Sigmund Freud. Ina Rilke is a translator of Dutch and French and has received the Vondel Translation Prize, the Scott Moncrieff Prize, and the Flemish Culture Prize for her translations. She lives in Amsterdam and Paris. David McKay is a translator of Dutch literature living in The Hague. He received the Vondel Translation Prize in 2018 for War and Turpentine by Stefan Hertmans. Pramoedya Ananta Toer (1925–2006) was born on the Indonesian island of Java. He is best known for the novels that make up his Buru Quartet, which relates the struggle of Indonesia to liberate itself from the Dutch. Among the honors he received were the PEN Freedom to Write Award and the Ramon Magsaysay Award.

Beware potential spoilers! I am not a big fan of pet play, it can be hard for an author to pull off. I am a big fan of dark, harsh "play", lightly balanced with affection, humor and a satisfying HEA. It takes a skilled writer to paint a picture of being owned, possessed and loved within the context of an interesting story. Ms. Wray does a brilliant, incredibly sexy, HOT, pet play story that at times shocked me yet enchanted me with the love story. I loved the big, tough, intimidating commander that could not stop kissing his kitten. We rarely get a wedding scene and this one balanced perfectly possession with respect. Lots of teasing foreshadow about the lord and princess! More please ;)

I've read books which touched on episodes of dominance and submission before but they weren't the main thrust of the romantic tales. Though well-written and very intriguing, stirring my imagination with fascinating descriptive passages, this book still fell short of really pulling me into the story. I just couldn't reach the height of enjoyable participation in the narrative as I've done with many other stories of romance and intrigue. I certainly recommend this writer's work to anyone who can!

Rounded up from a 3.75This was my first Marlee Wray book, but it won't be my last. I enjoyed the book and the characters. Melsint really knew what she was and what she wanted. She had no problems fighting with her family for her desires.The only thing I didn't like was the strange words for time. It was jarring and didn't flow well for me. That's just me though.

The emotional depth of this story carries it far ahead of most BDSM stories. The characters and plot are interesting and believable which makes the sex hotter. The writing is also a step above. Nothing is more irritating than poor editing. I will watch for more by Ms Wray.

This was a very great and erotic story, if you are looking for fast and dirty I highly recommend that you you this one. The story line was amazing and the characters just lovely. It is dark so be prepared. Marlee Wray wrote a book dark and sensual book looking forward to reading more.

It was an interesting take on a "romance" novel .. I did not inow what to expect so just went with the flow of the novel .. It was interesting and a fun read .. Not so sure this will be something I want to spend much time on, but it was pretty good for what it was.

I really enjoyed this pet/spanking story. It did have a plot and a great HEA with lots of delicious scenes in between with a touch of sci-fi floating around. The PET herself was lovely. Very entertaining!

Excellent, I am very much looking forward to a sequel, but it's still a good stand alone book. I highly recommend it for no other reason then the sex scenes are hot...but the story itself was spellbinding. I like a story that showcases the dominant and submissive relationship while still actually having a plot.

About the Author

Dr. Gabrielle Bendiner-Viani is an urbanist, curator, and artist pioneering public arts and urban research for community engagement, and is author of Contested City: Art and Public History as Mediation at New York's Seward Park Urban Renewal Area. She is principal of the design and research studio Buscada (buscada.com) and teaches urban studies and public art at The New School. She was the 2017 Post-doctoral Fellow in Visual Culture at the International Center of Photography and holds a PhD in environmental psychology from the Graduate Center, CUNY. She regularly consults with arts and culture organizations on community and art engagements and strategic visioning. Her creative practice has been shown at institutions including MIT, the Brooklyn Public Library, the Center for Architecture, the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center, and Tate Britain. Her work on cities, culture and photography has appeared in journals including Visual Studies, Urban Omnibus, Space and Culture, Society & Space, and Buildings & Landscapes.

The quality is high in printing and paper, but lacking in editing. I was disappointed to find a different model on every page, this reads more like a catalog of thumbnails, where I was hoping for more detail on fewer models. 400 pages of 400 girls feels too much like a hastily thrown together internet post, and not a high-art book like I was expecting. The writing consists of a single sentence by each name, which is so little information they might as well not have included it at all.

I've always thought the SG ladies were very interesting, I love the nonconventual look. I have alot in common with most of them, awkward, geeky, introvert, and highly tattooed. This book could use more text with the ladies, but it does let you know some insight. The pictures are very relaxed and being taken by different artists is great. The ladies are very free and uninhibited and the sets areare full of variety. The book makes a great coffee table conversation.

This is one of my favorite SG books. The pictures are nice. It gives a little bio on each one of the models. I like the whole Geekology thing, It's not a book on Cosplay, and stays true to the name. If you are into the Suicide Girls, this is definitely worth a look.

This one is just as good as the other SG book I own and it's really great. Sexy, artistic very cool, NOT PORN. I really enjoy it. It's SG with a nerdy flair. Very nice!

I first read this book some years ago when I was building an early adopter product . It's concerns (going mainstream, appealing to pragmatic buyers) seemed remote and misplaced. Having been through the chasm I have grown to appreciate it's sound advice. What is necessary to achieve early product success is very different from enduring , mainstream success. Building a whole product solution is as important, if not moreso, than marketing a cutting edge subcomponent . Valuable Field guide to a difficult problem

This is my second time through this canonical tech marketing book. The book explains the keys to bringing new tech to market. In particular, the ideas of narrowing to a nitche and assembling a whole product when crossing the chasm. This helps mainstream customers buy as they see a product as a market leader. This is when a category transitions from a product-focused sale to techies and visionaries, to a market-drive sale to more pragmatic and risk adverse customers.

This book offers a true blueprint for companies looking to market and sell innovative high-tech products in a mainstream market.This blue print begins by segmenting customers into groups with different needs and goals (innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority and laggards). These groups do not form a continuous spectrum. Indeed, there are gaps that exist that any company looking to succeed needs to understand and bridge. Once the company identifies the highly specific target segment within a mainstream marketplace, they then proceed to understanding their compelling reasons to buy. Then they must build around the notion of a "whole product" with the aid of partners as required to make that a reality. To further help the customer, the company must clearly define their competition and how they position themselves with respect to them. Finally comes selecting a distribution channel and ensuring that the sales force is empowered to deliver the required results.From my perspective, this book helps any IT executive understand how to better work with technology vendors. In addition to helping them identify the ones that are indeed there to stay and grow. It also pushes IT executives to make fundamental decisions on where in the consumer spectrum they want to position themselves based on their needs and the risks that they are willing to undertake.In all a very good and informative read. Despite it being originally written in the 90s the fundamentals of the blueprint still hold true. This is a true bible in the field of technology marketing. On the critiquing side, I would say that this book could have been written in a more concise fashion. It seemed slow at times, when reading it. Also, it would have been great to see updated examples of the principles described which would make it easier to reflect upon from a more recent perspective.

There are a number of great insights in this book, especially for engineers who are beginning to climb up out of their heavy technical world and want to have true and serious impact on the real world. I was a bit disappointed to see that the transformation to the online version appears to have at least one recurring defect. It looks like some symbol used in lists in the paper book does not translate properly into a symbol in the on-line version. What we see on the Kindle Reader on the iPad are lines starting with "535." It would be nice if there were someway to point out these defects to someone with an expectation of this copy automatically get updated at some point in time.Even with this annoyance, which caused me to downgrade the book by one star, the book is very readable and useful. I was also a bit surprised to see that the Kindle version of the book is slightly more expensive than the paper version, which makes no sense to me at all!

There is an investigation into the how and whys of this murder that is revealed through various character perspectives, and, along with these perspectives we get a deeper sense of racial tensions that have consumed much of this community.I was really lukewarm about Gaines' A Lesson Before Dying, but really enjoyed A Gathering of Old Men. I thought it was a powerful book with a powerful message about racial conflict/injustice and Gaines writes in a very symbolic, poetic way. I really thought the varying character perspectives really enhanced the viewpoints. I also thought the characters were complex and very realistically developed given the circumstances of the plot.One of the key themes that drives the novel is the idea of change, or moving forward. Change can come in various forms. There are points where several of the characters focus on the idea that we need to move on from old ideas. We need change; we cannot simply follow blindly ideas of the past that out of accord with racial harmony. There is a disconnect in racial harmony; and, therefore many character take a stand, both literally and symbolically, against this disconnect, this disharmony.A powerful book with an important message about racism in the deep South.

This is a classic that I had never read. The novel is set in Louisiana in the 1970's, and it involves a white man being shot. A group of "old men" all claim they shot the white man so that no one man can be proven guilty. The incident is an opportunity for the old men to finally stand up against the white establishment that has oppressed them for their entire lives. A unique aspect of this book is that each chapter is narrated by a different character so the reader gains many perspectives as the plot develops.The book was required reading for my high schooler, which is what lead me to read this book. It is an excellent book, and I highly recommend it. The book leads to some excellent discussions on race relations, changes with new generations, and doing what is right regardless of the personal cost. My son had to write a paper comparing one of the minor characters, Russell, to Oskar Schindler.If you enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird, you are likely to enjoy this book as well.

I think this is one of the best books I have read in years. It is an age old problem that I used to think was behind us, but lately I realize nothing has changed. This book is well written and as true today as the period of history it is supposed to represent.

Ernest Gaines is the best southern writer! Gifted, real, true to his roots and sense of place. This story grabs your heart and you never forget the beautiful characters it brings to life.
